I Got Nothing

I like my android: It's very windy today, but still the photos were pretty sharp and clear!

... so I'll just tell you what I've been up to lately. First, though, I didn't even have many photos to share, but fortunately I spotted this lovely planter of petunias downtown today. I love capturing flowers in their prime.

I've been watching The Vicar of Dibley on Netflix and just finished Season 2 this morning. Its final episode made me laugh more than I have in a long time. I think there are eight more episodes to watch on Netflix. It's an odd show, in that the vicar is a woman who loves God, but she's a bit risque. The other regular characters are priceless, especially the verger, Alice. Have you seen it?

Some calla lilies from early in the week. Beautiful wine color.

I still haven't found a good spot to stage simple, quick photo shoots of a teacup or book or such. I can't do anything more than that (a tablescape, etc.) because all my furniture is pushed into a corner to make room for my brother's hospital bed and equipment. But the good news is that he is doing well and holding steady. Hospice even told us that when they admitted him he was so ill he wasn't expected to be on hospice long before passing away, but so far he's beating the odds! Kallie is his almost constant companion:

I have colored a couple pages, finished reading a few books, and today I checked out Marcel Proust's work: Remembrance of Things Past (at least that's the title in the translation I have). I'm only reading the first of the seven novels in the two-volume work. Then I'll see if I want to continue with the others as time goes along. (I don't know if I live to be 80 if I could get it all read, though. It's quite the tome, and I have so many other books I want to read as well.) (Edited to add: Nope, this one's not for me, so I'm abandoning it after only about 15 pages. Life's too short!)

And from time to time I knit a row on a hat that I've halfway completed. I haven't watercolored in ages, but it is on my mind. (I pin inspiration on Pinterest every now and then. It's amazing the talent that's out there!) Right now I seem to want to finish up projects I've left undone.

That's what's doing here. Hope you are experiencing all that is good, wherever you are!

Blessings,
Bess

  1. Lovely photos. It's difficult to photograph white flowers, but yours seem very clear, especially as I have an eyesight problem and blurry vision. PTL that your brother is doing well. You're in my prayers. Bless you.

  2. The Vicar of Dibley is hilarious, isn't it? I just watched the one where she 'falls in love' with the
producer of Songs of Praise show that is being filmed at the church, lol lol.
Isn't it amazing how our towns provide such spectacular plantings (and free!), year on year.
A cascade of all-white petunias...what a good idea. Note to self.
Love and light to you and your brother, Bess; you and Kally are angels

  3. I'm glad to hear your brother is doing well. I have not heard of the Vicar of Dibley. It's nice to have something funny to watch. We had a nice visit in Kansas with my family last week to celebrate my niece who just finished High School. The windows have finally been replaced! The sun is out and everything looks beautiful after all the rain. Have a great week! Dianne L
